Resources

Performing research takes a lot of organization and time, and there are several items to consider before beginning a research project. Luckily, when you know and understand the steps of the process involved, conducting a study is straightforward and easy to manage. At Helfgott, we are often assisting new investigators with innovative projects, so we can understand how the process can appear confusing at first glance. To make the process easier for our investigators, we have created a few helpful suggestions and templates for you to work from. Here is a brief synopsis of the information you can find on the Institution Review Board (IRB) and resource pages:

  • Information on the Institutional Review Board process
  • IRB meeting dates
  • A pre-project questionnaire
  • Information for clinicians performing case studies

To ensure that your involvement with Helfgott is the best it can possible be, here are a few other considerations:

Natural medicine research is still in its infancy, therefore a myraid of topics have not been adequately researched. However, not every idea at its conception is suitable for study. Please use these resources to determine if your research idea is appropriately developed for proposal to the institute.

New investigators, clinicians interested in research, and prospective students may wish to attend our weekly Research-In-Progress (RIP) meeting. Click here for information about time and place of these meetings.

Investigators and companies not affiliated with NCNM may wish to use the NCNM Institutional Review Board to review clinical studies on alternative medicines and natural therapies. There is a charge for such a review. To inquire about outside IRB reviews, please contact the IRB chair, Lynne Shinto, ND.

The average clinical study costs in excess of $100,000. Helfgott is not a funding institution, therefore, any research idea proposed must be accompanied by a funding source.
